Many countries have been ruled by the British government. This includes GB as well as the Colonies around the world. Since 1931 these countries together are called the „Commonwealth“ – the „common“ (gemeinsam) „wealth“ (Vermögen, Besitz). Let’s watch this video-clip in German:
